Overview

Our Mission: Gibble Norden Champion Brown is a team of dedicated professionals committed to excellence and growth while transforming engineering problems into innovative solutions that satisfy the needs of our clients, staff and community.

Any goal can be achieved with the right team, the right ability, and the right attitude. As full service providers of structural and geotechnical engineering, many of GNCB's projects, ranging from complex biotechnology laboratories to private residences to waterfront structures, have been professionally recognized with prestigious awards. We start by accurately establishing the essential criteria for your project to be a success. Skill, experience, and determination across the team then provide the basis for problem-solving strategies and effective solutions which integrate seamlessly with the services of other design professionals.

GNCB has combined the disciplines of structural and geotechnical engineering. This combination of services, not often provided by the same firm, allows for the early and comprehensive evaluation of significant construction and cost considerations. We have also implemented quality control measures to proactively manage the unknowns inherent to structural and geotechnical engineering. These measures include our internal quality control program and our participation in formal organizational, technical and project peer reviews. Knowledge gained from peer reviews is directly implemented into our project management plan.

For the past 25 years, our Historic Preservation and Restoration Technology Group has provided specialized services to owners and architects in the areas of building preservation, conservation, and adaptive reuse. A sensitivity to aesthetic considerations as well as clients' intended use demands is integrated with the need to provide updated compliance with codes, standards, and guidelines governing issues ranging from safety to tax incentives.

Independent since 1967, GNCB originated from a branch office of the Denver firm KKNBA founded by Milo S. Ketchum, an internationally known pioneer of thin shell concrete structures. He was an educator, writer and creative structural engineer. Rudolph Besier came to Connecticut with Milo and continued to operate the practice for many years. In 1972, he opened and managed a New York City branch office; in the same year, Ken Gibble became the manager of the Old Saybrook office. We’ve taken our cue from their leadership to create a firm that emphasizes a depth of ability and services, a creative and stable work environment, and the design of innovative and achievement-oriented solutions.

Consider it Achievable with GNCB.
