Five Building Campus Expansion

Building Additions at Quinnipiac University
Hamden, CT
Full geotechnical engineering services for a five building expansion of this college campus. Test borings and rock coring were utilized to determine the subsurface profile and delineation of decomposed and sound bedrock. The owner’s goal was to ensure that the rock could be removed without blasting. At some areas unsuitable materials were removed and replaced with compacted structural fill. Where possible, the decomposed bedrock was used as fill below buildings in order to eliminate off-site disposal through residential neighborhoods. Construction monitoring of the earthwork activities kept the project on schedule.
