Former School Adds to Neighborhood Pride

Maplewood Housing
Bridgeport, CT
Structural stabilization and code improvements for 1930’s grammar school to moderate-income housing adaptive reuse project.

Thirty years of abandonment had caused roof and floor collapses over 50% of the 3-story brick/timber structure. Space by space analysis and upgrade including new roof upgrade. Bracing of un-reinforced brick walls for hurricane wind loads. Floor improvements with modern engineered lumber joist and beams for improved tenant quality standards.

Lateral load improvements to resist hurricane and seismic forces. Structural intervention contained within new architecturally defined spaces - State of Connecticut CHFA funded project.
